The Rockford Area Historical Museum was established in 1975 and is operated by the Rockford Area Historical Society. The building, constructed in 1903, was formerly the Power House, or generator plant for Rogue River Electric Light & Power Co. for over 20 years serving the shoe factory and Rockford residents. The "Spirit of 1976" inspired the conversion of the Power House into a museum and in 2003 the Society celebrated the buildings centennial.
The Society is currently working towards an expansion project which will increase display, storage, and visitor spaces allowing the Society to better preserve and share the local history of the greater Rockford area. |
